Understanding inventory status breakup

Inventory status breakup refers to the detailed categorization and analysis of the current status of items in inventory. Keeping track of inventory status is crucial to ensure efficient and accurate inventory management and to monitor stock levels.

In this article, you will learn about the various inventory statuses used by Eshopbox.

Eshopbox categorises inventory into five distinct statuses as below.

Sellable

It refers to the inventory that is in good condition, meets stringent quality standards, and is readily available for direct sale to customers.

Non sellable

It refers to inventory that is not suitable for direct sales due to being damaged or expired. These items require specific handling procedures such as returns processing or proper disposal.

Non sellable consists of the sum total of the following:

  • Consignments Non-Sellable Items: These are the items received in a consignment but rejected during the quality check.

  • Returns Non-Sellable Items: These are the items received as returns and rejected during the quality check.

  • Batching Non-Sellable Items: These are the expired items for which batch tracking is enabled and their stop ship date has crossed.

  • Transferred Non-Sellable Items: These are the items which are marked as non-sellable but have been moved to a new shelf location.

Inward In Progress

These items are currently being received, signifying a temporary state before they are fully stored on the shelf.

Inward In Progress consists of the sum total of the following:

  • Consignment sellable items putaway pending

  • Consignment items received QC pending

  • Cancelled sellable items putaway pending

  • Return sellable Items putaway pending

  • Transfer out sellable items putaway pending

Outward In Progress

Outward in progress is the total inventory count picked from their storage locations and ready for packaging and labelling for delivery.

Outward In Progress consists of the sum total of the following:

  • B2B orders pending to pack

  • B2C orders pending to pack

Under Investigation

Under investigation refers to the inventory that is currently under investigation due to its unavailability during picking or cycle count at its designated storage location.

Under investigation is the difference between the following:

  • Excess found: When the inventory of any SKU is re-inwarded due to missing barcodes, then the existing inventory for that SKU is marked as not found, and re-inwarded inventory is added as excess found.

  • Not found: When the inventory for an item is not physically available on its designated shelf, it is marked as not found. Learn here how to mark an item as not found.
