What is Weight Dispute Protection?

Weight Dispute Protection (WDP) is Eshopbox’s end-to-end weight and dimension verification process that protects sellers from courier weight discrepancy overcharges. Every order processed through Eshopbox fulfilment centres and shipped via Eshopbox Shipping is covered under WDP.

When a courier partner reports a weight that differs from the actual shipment weight, sellers typically face unexpected shipping cost increases. WDP eliminates this problem entirely—Eshopbox absorbs the risk of weight discrepancies so you never have to deal with overcharge disputes.

How does WDP work?

WDP is built into Eshopbox’s fulfilment workflow across three stages:

Step 1: SKU Profiling

When your inventory arrives at an Eshopbox fulfilment centre, every SKU is individually profiled. We capture accurate weight, dimensions, and a product image. This image serves as documented evidence in the event of any courier dispute, giving you a verified baseline for every product in your catalogue.


Step 2: Optimal Packaging Recommendation

For each order, Eshopbox’s algorithm analyses the contents and recommends the optimal packaging to the packer. The recommendation is designed to minimize volumetric weight while ensuring the product is fully protected during transit. This step directly reduces your shipping costs by avoiding oversized packaging.

Step 3: Manifestation Verification

At the manifestation step, every shipment’s weight and dimensions are re-captured using an AI-based imagery system. If the measured profile does not match the system’s calculated profile, the order is sidelined and corrected before dispatch. Corrections include:

Wrong packaging used: The order is repacked with the recommended option.
Poly mailer with air pockets: Voids are taped down and the shipment is rescanned.
Better pack identified: If the packer finds a smaller or more suitable pack, that feedback is fed back into the recommendation algorithm for future orders.

What does WDP cover?

WDP provides complete protection against weight discrepancy overcharges from courier partners. Specifically:

• Any difference between the weight declared by Eshopbox and the weight reported by the courier partner is Eshopbox’s responsibility.
• You are never charged for courier weight discrepancy overcharges on shipments processed through Eshopbox FCs and shipped via Eshopbox Shipping.
• You do not need to file disputes, provide evidence, or follow up with courier partners—Eshopbox handles it all.

About the WDP Fee

The Weight Dispute Protection Fee is a small per-shipment charge that covers the cost of Eshopbox’s multi-stage verification infrastructure—including SKU profiling, AI-based measurement systems, and the packaging optimisation algorithm.

This fee is applied to every shipment processed from an Eshopbox fulfilment centre and dispatched through Eshopbox Shipping. The exact fee amount is included in your commercial agreement and appears as a line item in your invoice.

Eligibility

The order is processed from an Eshopbox fulfilment centre.
The shipment is dispatched via Eshopbox Shipping.

Orders shipped through your own courier accounts or third-party shipping integrations are not covered under WDP, as Eshopbox cannot verify weight accuracy outside its own shipping infrastructure.

What happens if a courier reports a different weight for my shipment?

Nothing, from your end. Eshopbox takes full responsibility for any weight discrepancy on WDP- covered shipmentsyou are billed only at the weight verified by our system.

Do I need to do anything to activate WDP?

No. WDP is automatically applied to all eligible shipments. There is no activation step required.

Will I see the WDP fee on my invoice?

Yes. The Weight Dispute Protection Fee appears as a separate line item in your Eshopboxinvoice, charged per shipment.

Can I opt out of WDP?

WDP is a core part of Eshopbox’s fulfilment quality process. It is included for all orders processed through Eshopbox FCs with Eshopbox Shipping to ensure consistent accuracy and protection for every seller.
