Troubleshooting bulk inventory update

You can update the inventory of multiple products in bulk using a CSV sheet. If you do not fill the CSV template correctly, you can receive errors while uploading the CSV.

In this article, you will learn how to troubleshoot CSV errors while updating inventory in bulk. Below are the types of errors and how to resolve them:

  • Error #1 → Invalid file. Ensure that you have not added any additional columns, renamed the mentioned headers in the template, or uploaded an empty file. You need to follow the correct format for adding your inventory details as per the import template and save the template as a CSV file before uploading.

  • Error #2 → Failed: The quantity cannot be less than zero. Make sure the value of the quantity is more than zero. Ensure that you have mentioned the quantity against each Product ID in the template and have saved the file in the right format before uploading it back.

  • Error #3 → Failed: The quantity should always be numeric. Make sure you have not included any alphabets or special characters. Ensure that you have added the quantity in numeric against each Product ID in the template and have saved the file in the right format before uploading it back.

  • Error #4 → Failed: The date format of this batch is incorrect. Make sure you use the following date format: mmm-yy or dd-mmm-yy (e.g. Oct-22) or (e.g. 05-Oct-22). Make sure you use the date format as mmm-yy or dd-mmm-yy, i.e., if the date to be entered is 25 November 2022, then you need to enter it as either Nov-22 or 25-Nov-22. Save the inward template as a CSV file before uploading.

  • Error #5 → Failed: This shelf already contains a different batch of the same product. You cannot keep multiple batches of the same product on a particular shelf. Make sure products of a single batch are kept on a shelf. You cannot keep multiple batches of the same product on a particular shelf.

  • Error #6 → Failed: Incorrect batching method. You need to provide the correct batching method and then re-upload the CSV.

  • Error 7# → Failed: Batching is disabled. Batch attributes are not required. You need to clear the columns with batch details and upload the CSV again.

  • Error 8#Failed: Batch tracking is disabled for this product. You can only update batch details if batch tracking is enabled. You need to clear the columns with batch details and upload the CSV again. In case you need to store batch-wise inventory you need to first enable batch tracking for the particular product.   • Error 9#Failed: The scannable identifier entered is not available in the workspace against any product ID.
    You need to make sure that the scannable identifier is present against any of the product identifiers (SKU, EAN, UPC, GTIN) provided while creating the product.

  • Error 10# → Failed: The combination of scannable identifier and shelf should be unique. You need to make sure the scannable identifier and shelf entered is not duplicate in a single file, they should be unique.

  • Error 11# → Failed: This product is a virtual kit. You cannot update the inventory for a virtual kit. You can only update the inventory of its base products (components). You cannot directly update the inventory for a virtual kit. You need to update the inventory for the base products that are included in a virtual kit. The inventory for the virtual kit will be calculated based on the available inventory of base products.

  • Error 12# → Failed: This product is in draft status in your workspace. Your product is still in draft. You need to make the product active before updating its inventory. Learn more

  • Error 13# → Failed: This shelf is not present.

    You need to create a shelf for sellable items before importing inventory. You need to add a shelf of type sellable items, before importing inventory in the particular shelf.

  • Error 14# → Failed: the quantity of this product on the shelf is already blocked against pending orders. You cannot update less than the blocked quantity. The blocked quantity indicates the number of pending orders you currently have, which still need to be fulfilled. Thus, the quantity provided for import cannot be less than the blocked quantity.
