Shelf Transfer

Shelf transfer refers to the movement of physical inventory from one shelf to another within the fulfilment location. To complete a shelf transfer, you need to

  • Transfer out the inventory: This can be of the following types

    • Sellable to sellable: This is performed to transfer inventory from a sellable to another sellable shelf. This can be performed for batch-enabled products as well.

    • Non sellable to Non sellable: This is performed to transfer inventory from a non sellable to another non sellable shelf.

    • Sellable to Non sellable: This is performed to transfer inventory from a sellable to a non sellable shelf. This will update the inventory status from Sellable to Non sellable. This can be performed for batch-enabled products as well.

    • Non sellable to sellable: This is performed to transfer inventory from a non sellable to a sellable shelf. This will update the inventory status from Non sellable to Sellable.

  • Perform putaway to store inventory on the respective shelf.

You can also use this process to transfer out non sellable batch items. This refers to the inventory where batch tracking is enabled, and the stop-ship date has crossed. To remove non sellable inventory. you need to

  • Transfer out the inventory

  • Pack it as a removal

In this article, you will learn how to perform transfer out.

To perform transfer out, you need to follow the below given steps.

  • Step 1: From the header, navigate to Inventory > Manage Inventory.

  • Step 2: You will be redirected to the Inventory snapshot page. Click on Shelf transfer.

  • Step 3: You will be redirected to the Shelf transfer page.

  • Step 4: Click on Create shelf transfer.

  • Step 5: You will be redirected to the Create shelf transfer page. Select the type of shelf transfer that you want to perform and click on OK.

  • Step 6: Select the traceability level as Item level or SKU level and click OK.

    Note: This step is applicable only if you are managing inventory for multiple workspaces at your fulfilment location.

  • Step 7: Scan the tote code in which items need to be transferred out.

    Note: If you want to move items from sellable to non-sellable shelves, you need to scan a non-sellable tote.

  • Step 8: You will be redirected to the Pick items page. Click on Add to pick items from the shelf.

  • Step 9: You will be redirected to the Create Transfer out page. Scan the shelf from where you want to pick the items and click on OK.

  • For SKU level traceability

    • Step 10.1: Scan the SKU that you want to pick and click on OK.

    • Step 10.2: If batch tracking is enabled on your workspace, then you need to verify the batch details on the physical product and click on OK.

      Note: If the batch details present on the physical product do not match with the batch details. you need to first check for the correct shelf from inventory snapshot where this item is present physically. Once done, you need to create a new shelf transfer by scanning the correct shelf.

    • Step 10.3: Enter the quantity and click on Submit.

    • Step 10.4: Once you have added all the items, click on Complete.

  • For item level traceability

    • Step 10.1: Search the item you want to pick using the item barcode and click on OK.

    • Step 10.2: Select Shelf transfer and click on Submit.

    • Step 10.3: Once you have added all the items, click on Complete.

Once you submit, the transfer out will be done, and you will be redirected back to the Shelf transfer page. You need to now perform putaway for the transferred items. Learn here how to perform putaway.

Transferring out expired batch items

To transfer out batch items for which the stop ship date has crossed, follow the steps below.

  • Step 1: From the header, navigate to Inventory > Manage Inventory.

  • Step 2: You will be redirected to the Inventory snapshot page. Click on Shelf transfer.

  • Step 3: You will be redirected to the Shelf transfer page.

  • Step 4: Click on Create shelf transfer.

  • Step 5: You will be redirected to the Create shelf transfer page. Select the type of shelf transfer as Remove non sellable batch items and click on OK.

  • Step 6: Enter the workspace name and click OK.

    Note: This step is applicable only if you are managing inventory for multiple workspaces at your fulfilment location.

  • Step 7: Scan the tote code of a non sellable tote in which items need to be transferred out and click Submit.

  • Step 8: Scan the shelf from which you need to transfer out the items and click OK.

  • Step 9: A list of all available shelves where inventory that has crossed stop ship date is present within the fulfilment location will appear. Scan the shelf from which you need to transfer the items and click OK.

  • Step 10: You will be redirected to the Pick items page. Click Add and start scanning items from the shelf you wish to transfer out.

Once you have added all the items, click on Complete.

The transfer out will be done, and you will be redirected back to the Shelf transfer page. You need to now pack this as a removal. Learn here how to pack a removal.
