Batch Tracking FAQs

Batch Tracking FAQs

1. Can the batch tracking information be updated for the existing inventory?

No. You cannot update the batch tracking information for existing inventory. This is because when multiple different batches of a product exist in the same consignment, there's a risk of mixup in the bin. Inventory without updated batch tracking information will be shipped out first.

Note: To update batch tracking information for existing inventory, you must create a recall and then send back the inventory with the updated information.

2. Can the batch tracking information be updated for the new inventory?

Yes. You can update the batch tracking information for new inventory. Any inventory without updated batch tracking information will be shipped out first.

3. Can I change the shelf life/threshold period for a product?

Yes. You can update the shelf life or threshold period of a product. This will recalculate the stop-ship date, and the impact on existing inventory will be updated by the end of the day. If the stop-ship date for any product has passed, it will be marked as non-sellable.

Note: Changes to shelf life or threshold period only apply to future inventory. Products already marked as expired due to earlier shelf life or threshold settings will remain unchanged.

4. Can I change the batch tracking attribute for a product?

Yes. You can change the Batch Tracking attribute (manufacturing date, expiry date, and batch code). This is an editable field. However, if updated, the changes won't apply to existing batches.

5. What happens if the batch tracking information is not present on the product received?

Ensure that the batch tracking attribute selected when creating the product is physically present on the product or its label. If the batch tracking attribute isn't physically present on the product or its label, the product will be QC rejected. You'll need to create a recall for all products marked as QC rejected.

6. What happens if unexpected or overage items are received in an inward consignment for which batch tracking is enabled?

  1. If batch tracking is enabled and excess/overage items received are the same product belonging to the same batch, an unexpected consignment will be created, and the inward process will proceed.
  2. If batch tracking is enabled but tracking details are missing from the excess/overage items, or if they belong to a different batch, they will be QC-rejected. You'll need to create a recall for these items.

  1. If batch tracking is enabled and excess/overage items belong to a different batch with no batch information provided, they will be marked as QC rejected and require a recall.

7. Can I send multiple batches of a particular product in a consignment?

No. You can only send one batch of the product in one consignment. Sending multiple batches together might lead to mixing of products from different batches, resulting in QC difficulties.
